2.  Covid-19 Self-Isolation Support Grants

The Highland Council has published new information on the Coronavirus Covid-19 button on the front page of its website on how people can access the new Covid-19 Self-Isolation Support Grant -

If you have been asked by NHS Test and Protect Service to self-isolate on or after 28th September 2020, you may be entitled to a £500 Self-Isolation Support Grant. Full eligibility details are outlined on the Highland Council website. Anyone wishing to apply should contact the Council’s Welfare Support Team on 0800 090 1004.

Welcoming this funding aimed at supporting the most vulnerable, the Leader of The Highland Council, Cllr Margaret Davidson said: “We are all aware of the many challenges people are facing so I am sure knowing this new and non-repayable self-isolation support grant is available, will give some reassurance and help relieve some of the stress and financial concerns people asked to isolate will have.”

3.  Public Health Scotland COVID Dashboard

Public Health Scotland now publishes a daily dashboard of information associated with the virus. This databoard contains information about the virus within each local area including by NHS Board and Local Authority area. There is also 7 day average information by neighbourhood and trend and demographic data. This information can be accessed at the following link and a guide to using this resource is attached.

4.  Challenge Poverty Public Leaflet

Challenge Poverty week ran from 5 October to 9 October. A national campaign, the aim is to help raise awareness of some of the supports to mitigate poverty, and to help end the stigma of living on a low income. This is especially important just now because of the wider impact of the Coronavirus pandemic – everyone has been affected, but we know both the virus and the measures to stop it spreading have had a greater effect on certain groups of people. The impact is more severe on those who are living in poverty or close to it. As part of challenge poverty week, the Council has development a leaflet designed to provide advice on how people can check their entitlements to support and maximise their income. This is attached to this communication. Please share this within your communities and across your networks.
